Omaha Chapter Helps Support National Night Out

Marriott associates, kids, parents, clowns, bouncy houses: a great time was had by all at National Night Out!

On August 7, a committed group of members from the Omaha Chapter of ONE Marriott volunteered their time and effort at National Neighborhood Night Out. This annual festival aims to bring awareness to drug prevention and local anti-crime programs, while strengthening neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.

“We felt this was a great way to help support the community and visibly show how people who work here at Marriott care about these important issues that impact its residents. We all can do our part.” – Rodney Bennett, Omaha Chapter leader

The event’s many activities, included games, music, bouncy houses for the youth, clowns making balloon animals, great food, neighborhood unity and a popular School Supply Drive.

Over 300+ students, K-12, who received the necessary school supplies they need for the upcoming school year. The drive included everything from pens, pencils, crayons, notebooks, and much more.

“This is just another great example of how our chapters get involved in their communities. Each chapter determines their participation with local groups and events that support our overall mission. It’s a grassroots effort.” – Brad Benton, ONE Chairperson

There were visits from prominent city officials like Mayor Jean Stothert, TV media, police officers, and the local fire department. Other than the free school supplies, most participants look forward to the ever-popular fire engine with their sprinkler hose and lawn water slide.
